The Power of Prayer / Praying for Miracles
Billy Graham was a big “hero in the faith” to me. I have several specific examples how he impacted my life, with one being the fact that he was the 1st staff person of Youth for Christ in the 40’s (I served with YFC for 30 years). With his recent “homegoing,” I’ve been reading a lot of his materials, and I came across the following:
“When hard times come we can do one of two things: We can either become bitter and turn against God, or we can turn in faith to Him, and find in Him the strength and hope we need.”
My “word “ for 2018 is MIRACLE. It wasn’t too far into
January when God impressed on me to expand my focus
to BELIEVE IN MIRACLES. Most of my life, I would say with my mouth that I believed in miracles, but in my soul, I’m not sure I really believe it. Consider:
Gen. 15:6 Abram believed the Lord, and He credited it to him as righteousness.
Matt. 8:13 Then Jesus said to the centurion, “Go! Let it be done just as you believed it would.” And his servant was healed at that moment.
Matt. 9:28 When He had gone indoors, the blind men came to Him, and He asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?”
Matt. 21:22 If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.
Mark 9:24 Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief.”
And look at our featured passage:
vs. 8 – AND PETER DID SO (an act of belief)
vs. 9 – PETER FOLLOWED HIM OUT… BUT HE HAD NO IDEA (an act of believing)
vs. 11 – NOW I KNOW WITHOUT A DOUBT (full throttled belief!)
Ed Dobson, former pastor at Calvary Church in Grand Rapids, wrote: “My miracle is ultimately up to God – it’s not up to me. What God does, He does in answer to prayer.”
vs. 10 – THE CHURCH WAS EARNESTLY PRAYING TO GOD FOR HIM (sounds to me like a church that was united in their belief)
I’m praying… I’m believing… I’m trusting…’wanna join me?
