Tesoros de Dios

Holistic development of children with disabilities

We currently have over 130 children enrolled in programs at Tesoros de Dios. These children present a wide range of physical, mental, and intellectual disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, Down Syndrome, Autism, Spina Bifida, Brain Damage, Learning Disabilities, and others. Their ages range from infant to 23 years old. Most children come from low-income families, many living in poor conditions that are not conducive to their health conditions.

Our hired Nicaraguan staff provide services to these children which include: Equine-therapy, Physical Therapy, Special Education, Early Intervention, Transition, Palliative Care, and others. Each child attends Tesoros de Dios once or twice a week with a family member or caregiver for 2-6 hours of therapy. Depending on a child’s specific needs, he/she may receive therapy and support in a variety of areas during weekly visits. Our children either begin or end each day with devotions and prayer. In addition to services for our children, family members and caregivers receive support through devotions, support groups, disability education, trainings, and counseling services.

Lindsay Allen from World Orphans facilitates communication between Tesoros de Dios and our church. This permits us to deepen relationships, and helps to mobilize teams when they plan visits to their partners.
