International Departures: Missions

Kenneth Bolding once wrote, “No people, society, or organization can long exist without a compelling image of the better future that calls us forward into tomorrow.”  gracespring's outreach and missions are all about our calling into the future.  It's our investment in all peoples' eternal future!

Our Definition
Missions is the Family of God intentionally crossing cultural barriers to bring people from every nation to worship and glorify the Lord Jesus Christ.
We believe that the chief end of missions is a cry heard throughout Scripture from Genesis through Revelation - a cry for all people to know and acknowledge the true and living God.  We have chosen Psalm 86:9 to represent this Scripture-wide cry as the Biblical foundation of missions at gracespring:

Our Text
Psalm 86:9 (NIV)    All the nations you have made will come and worship before you, O Lord; they will bring glory to your name.

In the New Testament this cry comes to a focal point in the person of Jesus Christ, in the cry to acknowledge Him as the Son of God, the God-Man Mediator, the Lamb who was slain, the only and all-sufficient Savior.  Philippians 2:10-11 declares that this call will in fact be heeded, and we are given a peek at the glorious fulfillment of this declaration in the Book of the Revelation, especially chapter 5.  The chief end of missions will be consummated!  Jesus Christ will be worshiped by people from every tongue, nation, and people-group.  God has assured that.  The question before us is, “What part will gracespring missions play in God’s working out His end-purpose for human history?”

Our Goals
We see all gracespring attendees becoming World Christians:  Supporting, praying, and reordering their lives around God’s global cause over the next five years.
We see an ever-increasing amount of gracespring attendees serving on strategic short-term teams.

These experiences will be offered in quarterly formats for individuals, youths, and families.  Each experience will be evaluated upon its conclusion.
We will strongly support, encourage, and regularly evaluate our missionaries and national global partners.

Domestic Departures: Outreach

The Definition
Ministries, programs, or non-profits outside gracespring facilities in our community and region that focus on helping the under-resourced and those in need.

The Text
Matthew 25:34-36 (NIV)  “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.  35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

The Purpose
The Family of God becoming the hands of Christ to reveal His heart in our community.

The Goal
The goal of our Outreach Team is to create an outreach experience for each of our attendees.  The team’s priorities will be to provide a God-encounter through a positive volunteer experience.  These experiences will be offered in one-time, weekly, and monthly formats.  Inner-city ministries, food banks, soup kitchens, crop walks, and random acts of kindness events will be utilized.  Each experience will be evaluated upon its conclusion.
