We believe that people who become fully engaged participants in the church also become owners in the ministry. Through covenant relationship to one another, we submit ourselves to one another and leadership who hold us accountable to Christ. (Titus 3:1)
You Need Healthy Relationships
Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: If one falls down, his friend can help him up. But pity the one who falls and has no one to help him up. – Ecclesiastes. 4:9-10
You Need A Place Where You Can Use Your Gifts
Do not neglect the gift that is in you, which was given to you. – 1 Timothy 4:14
You Need A Place Where You Can Grow
They joined with the other believers and devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, sharing in the breaking of bread – Acts 2:42
You Need To Belong To Something Bigger Than Yourself
Just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we who are many form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. – Romans 12:4-5
While many memberships in our society highlight member benefits, we look at membership as a mutual covenant between Christ as the head of the body, and its members that make up the body - The Church. A Biblical covenant is a relationship between two partners who make binding commitments to each other and work together to reach a common goal. We see God make multiple covenants with His people throughout the Bible to accomplish His life-saving work on the earth. As a church, we make a covenant with our members to:
Know: we are committed to rely on structures that help us know the condition of our flock
Feed: we are committed to helping our members grow through regular teaching from God’s word, through the providing of resources, and through encouragement to feed themselves from God’s word
Lead: we are committed to leading our people by example as we seek to equip them and provide relational opportunities to encourage growth
Protect: we are committed to being a wall of protection for our people, helping to guard against the world, the flesh, dark spiritual forces, and false doctrines
Care: we are committed to providing meaningful holistic care for our members which includes, but is not limited to, care for the spiritual, mental, and physical needs of our body
As you enter into covenant membership you can expect to welcome greater ownership of the ministries of gracespring, to be called to a higher standard of accountability and commitment, and to participate in certifying church decisions through casting affirmation votes as prescribed in our constitution. These include the installation of Elders and Pastors, affirmation of the annual budget, and, less frequently, significant decisions such as constitutional amendments and building campaigns.
